Grave’s disease is a thyroid autoimmune disorder that affects about 240 million people worldwide. It occurs in women more often than men. It is a condition that causes the thyroid gland to produce too much thyroid hormone, leading to a range of symptoms, such as weight loss, heart palpitations, tremors, anxiety, irritability, tremors, heat sensitivity, goiter, nodules, changes in the menstrual cycle, reduced libido, and more.

If left untreated, Grave’s disease can lead to a potentially life-threatening complication called a thyroid storm, which is a sudden and severe worsening of symptoms that can cause fever, rapid heartbeat, confusion, and even coma.

It can also lead to Thyroid Eye Disease, which is an autoimmune disease in which the eye muscles and fatty tissue behind the eye become inflamed. This inflammation can push the eyes forward (“staring” or “bulging”) or cause the eyes and eyelids to become red and swollen, which leads to loss of sight.

Unfortunately, many people who suffer from Grave’s disease are often left feeling hopeless and helpless, as conventional treatments often fail to address the underlying cause of the disease. In fact, medical doctors only offer three options for treatment: medications, thyroidectomy (surgical removal of the thyroid gland), or radioactive iodine treatment (RAI).

Radioactive iodine treatment involves taking a pill or liquid that contains a small amount of radioactive iodine, which is absorbed by the thyroid gland. The radiation destroys the overactive thyroid cells, effectively shutting down the gland’s ability to produce thyroid hormone.

This treatment comes with a range of serious side effects, including fatigue, weight gain, brain fog, depression, increased risk of developing leukemia, stomach cancer, salivary gland cancer, damage to the tear ducts, permanently inducing hypothyroidism and symptoms caused by it, and more. This treatment does NOT address the root cause of Grave’s disease, which means that the body might continue to attack itself, but in different ways.
